One of the most important ways that Brio loves you back is with wholesome, organic, non-GMO ingredients that are certified gluten free and free of synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, artificial colors, flavors and preservatives.
One of our favorite fun facts worth highlighting: Brio is made with whole, organic, pasture-raised milk, a great source of Vitamin D and protein. We work with Organic Valley, a cooperative of family farmers, as our reliable partner in providing delicious, healthful milk produced by healthy, happy cows. They’ve been a leader in organic agriculture from the beginning, so they know what they’re doing.
Their delicious milk is produced without the use of pesticides and herbicides and is made from cows that are not treated with antibiotics and growth hormones such as rBST. It’s non-GMO too. These cows live the good life, grazing pastures out in the sunshine and fresh air, which recent studies show makes their milk higher in Omega-3s and has a more healthful balance of essential fatty acids. Now that’s all good news for your body!

With Brio, you can feel the love. Because Brio gives you the nutrients you need to feel and be your best everyday!
Even if you try to eat well, you probably miss some nutrients, especially in our fast-paced world. Kids can be picky, so they don’t always get their essential vitamins and minerals. And let’s not talk about the eating habits of teens and college students! Even retirees and seniors may be challenged to eat right every day. But when ice cream is reimagined in the healthiest way possible, it’s not just ice cream. It’s food, with premium ice cream taste. That’s a revelation. And you get the benefit of healthy nutrients you’d never know were there.
Brio is a good source of protein. Each serving includes 5 to 6 grams — about as much protein as you’d find in an egg. Our protein comes from our pasture-raised organic whole milk and r-BST-free whey protein concentrate. By the way, there are no eggs and no soy in Brio.
Brio contains a full spectrum of 24 essential micronutrients of the highest quality; all are non-GMO and meet Kosher standards. Those with allergies can be assured; these vitamins and minerals are developed under a strict Allergen Monitoring Program, assuring their safety and your peace of mind.
These healthy nutrients include:
Antioxidants (Vitamins A, C and E)
Electrolytes (including potassium, magnesium and sodium)
B-Vitamins (including B12 and Folic Acid)
Calcium, Magnesium and Vitamin D
Zinc, Iron and Other Essential Minerals
To help maximize absorption of key fat-soluble vitamins (like Vitamins A and E), Brio also includes a healthy balance of Omega 3-6-9 fats.
Probiotics, the beneficial living bacteria found in yogurt and other fermented foods, are good for your gut. Since about 70% of your immune system is found in your gastrointestinal tract, probiotics may help you stay healthier overall.
The probiotics in Brio are freezer friendly; ordinary probiotics can’t survive the cold temperatures and harsh environment of the freezer. After searching far and wide, we discovered Bacillus coagulans GBI-30 6086, a signature probiotic developed by Ganeden, one of the most advanced laboratories in the business. This probiotic is the only Bacillus that has been granted FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized as Safe) status.
To round out Brio’s digestive benefits package, we added prebiotics, a non-digestible food ingredient that helps increase beneficial microorganisms in the intestines. Brio’s prebiotics come from all-natural, organic inulin, a starchy substance from guar gum bean fiber and agave.
Fat isn’t fabulous. Yet the typical American diet has way too much unhealthy saturated fat, and not enough healthy, unsaturated fats. Super premium ice creams definitely top the list of fat-laden treats. Remarkably, Brio has 50% less fat and 65% less cholesterol and saturated fat compared to most super premium ice cream brands, yet is rich, creamy and satisfying. More good news: Brio is non-GMO (all of our ingredients are not genetically modified) and is certified gluten free.
Brio offers naturally occurring Omega 3s from our pasture-raised organic milk, and Omega 3s and 9s from healthy oils, including organic non-GMO sunflower and canoloa oils. The result is that Brio has the proper balance of omega 3-6–9s you’ve heard about. (The typical American diet is unbalanced, with about 20 times more omega 6 than omega 3. The Brio ratio, at approximately 4:1, is considered optimal for health.) One more thing: the high quality oils in Brio are produced without any solvents or hexane; they are expeller pressed for the highest quality.
This high value fat is found in every scoop of Brio. The medium chain saturated fats in coconut oil support sustained energy and may have immune response benefits.
We keep it smart, yet sweet, with a patented blend of carefully chosen natural sugars: organic dried cane syrup, organic agave nectar and non-corn, non-GMO fructose from sugar cane. While regular ice cream causes those not-so-fun sugar spikes, Brio’s low glycemic sugar blend helps provide sustained energy without highs and lows. By the numbers, Brio’s average GIycemic Index is 40; our average Glycemic Load is 8 per serving.
In our view, creamy is more satisfying than overly sugary. That’s why Brio has 10 – 40% less added sugar than most premium ice creams. Best of all, Brio has no artificial sweeteners, monk fruit, stevia or erythritol and absolutely no high-fructose corn syrup, allowing our natural flavors to come through.
Made with whole organic milk (pasture-raised), Brio provides 6 grams of protein, 2 grams of dietary fiber and 6-7 grams of fat per serving. Together, they help slow down your body’s absorption of sugar and provide you with sustained energy. All from ice cream? Now that’s a boost for body and soul.
Here’s the reality: The average American consumes about 20 tsp. (80 grams) of added sugar per day, or about 16% of daily calorie intake. The FDA recommends no more than 12.5 tsp (50 grams) of added sugar per day, about 10% of daily caloric intake. High fructose corn syrups, table sugar, agave nectar, maple syrup and honey are all considered “added sugar.” Naturally occurring sugars, such as the lactose found in whole milk, are NOT considered “added sugar.”
Here’s how Brio compares to other treats (in terms of added sugar):
No monk fruit, sugar alcohols (erythritol) or stevia
No high fructose corn syrup
No artificial fillers
No GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms)
No gluten (we’re certified gluten free)
No r-BST growth hormones
No corn, soy or egg
No artificial colors and flavors
No artificial preservatives
